Boarding - Pet Boarding Policies

Canines

  1. Requirements
    1. Rabies, distemper, lepto, parvo, adenovirus type II, and bordetella vaccinations current. If the rabies vaccine is needed we are required to do an exam first.
    2. Intestinal parasite exam negative within last 6 months.
  2. Facilities and care
    1. Most dogs will be in runs that are 7 feet long by 36 inches to 54 inches wide. Cement floors are heated in the winter, cool in summer, kennels are air-conditioned. (Some pets may be in steel kennels with grates if they require that to stay clean)
    2. We feed Science Diet Food. If your pet is on a special diet, you are welcome to bring it along.
    3. Dogs are put out individually in a clean exercise yard several times daily. If they are with us for a prolonged stay and they are socially able, we will choose a play partner of a similar size and good disposition so that they will have company in the play area.
    4. Dogs are handled, petted, and well observed for any possible problems that may develop.
    5. We can do routine vaccinations, dentals, grooming, etc. during this time, to make your schedule easier.
    6. If your pet stays with us for 2 weeks or more, you will receive a 5% discount on boarding fees.
  3. Items that your pet may bring with him/her to “camp”
    1. Any special foods, treats, or medications. (We do have a small additional fee if medications need to be given.)
    2. Toys (large enough so that they will not go down a 3 inch drain)
    3. Beds or blankets from home will work for some. Others may tip over water dishes, unneutered males may do some territory marking, and submissive wetters may soil beds. (We normally provide fleeces for your pets comfort. These are easily washed and dried.) Unless your pet has difficulty stepping up onto an elevated sleeping area, we place bedding on a raised rack which most dogs seem to prefer.

Felines

  1. Requirements
    1. Current rabies and  "distemper combo" (panleukopenia, rhinotracheitis, and calici viruses). If rabies vaccine is needed we are required to do an exam first.
    2. Leukemia tested negative and vaccinated for leukemia regularly (test will be repeated if vaccines have not been kept current.)
  2. Facilities and care
    1. Our feline friends have a special room away from the dogs.
    2. We have one large cat condo for long term visitors. Others may enjoy our roomy steel kennels 4 feet by 2 feet.
    3. A fleece is provided and we have small "houses" for those who like to den.
    4. We feed Science Diet cat food. If your cat is on a special diet, we welcome you to bring it along.
    5. Cats are petted and handled regularly and litter boxes are cleaned as needed.
    6. We often do routine vaccinations, dentals, grooming, etc. while your cat is boarding to save you time and trips to the clinic.
    7. You may bring extra treats or fun toys for your special kitty.
    8. Beds and blankets from home work for some cats, but we provide easily washed fleeces.
